Ben is the Aqua Nutrition Sustainability Lead for Cargill, after joining in May 2024. Working across this global group, Ben will have responsibilities relating to supply chain evaluation and development on issues such as human rights and deforestation and will work with the businesses on implementing and maintaining sustainability standards and meeting sustainability goals. Ben started his career in Germany where he was involved in researching the potential of alternative plant proteins for fish diets. After an internship in China with a Recirculated Aquaculture System Supplier, he moved to Stirling (Scotland) to acquire a master’s degree in Sustainable Aquaculture funded with a scholarship granted by the Sustainable Aquaculture Innovation Centre (SAIC). Following hands-on experience as a Fish Health Specialist for Scottish Sea Farms in Orkney, Ben joined the Mowi Graduate Management Trainee Programme which led to a Farm Site Manager role on the Isle of Lewis (Outer Hebrides) with a biomass consent of over 4000t. In 2019, Ben joined Tesco as Aquaculture Manager. After several years in the retail sector, he moved to Regal Springs as their Group Sustainability Manager before joining Cargill.
